Strategic Plan envisions expanded space, enhanced communications

The HUB Houston released its strategic plan at the end of the school year. Colleen Russo, executive director, writes, “We believe this strategic plan serves as a roadmap that will guide our decision-making and operational activities across all the departments and levels within the organization. It represents our collective commitment to growth, innovation, and excellence.”

The plan was based on extensive interviews with HUB stakeholders, including parents, members, faculty, staff, and community partners.

There was a clear consensus on the need to expand the space available for HUB programs. The HUB, launched in 2015, originally housed the high school, Life 101, and Club HUB at the Galway campus. Life 101 and Club HUB have since moved, but both programs - and the high school - have waiting lists. With the addition of Aspire Accessories in 2022, and the long term goal of housing it with Life 101 to facilitate interaction between our employment programs, the need for more space is evident.

Another consensus goal across all programs was looking for ways to improve parental experience. Parental response were overwhelmingly positive concerning their view of the HUB’s climate for members. We have a solid foundation of parental support and engagement already, and look forward to creating new avenues for participation.
