About Life 101

Life 101 is a bridge for recent graduates who continue to work and build upon academic goals as well as learn new skills for employment, socialization, and community inclusion. Life 101 offers our individual Journey of Belonging plan and membership in Club HUB.

Life and Social Skills

All of our members develop skills for being in community: working efficiently together, improving communication, learning the basics of how to budget and maintain a household, and related life and social skills. We encourage growth in these areas through a variety of elective courses that spark creativity and cooperation. Some recent offerings:

  • Social thinking

  • Relationships

  • Production (woodworking, hand crafts, sewing)

  • Art

  • Music appreciation and performance

  • The HUBCAPS music group

  • Movie Making

  • STEM lab and computer courses

Road to Employment

Our journey begins with individualized evaluations necessary to ensure realistic and attainable goals are set, and expectations are met. Our outcomes are determined by the success of our Student Members and their road to employment. Our program will provide the tools for each Student Member to reach their fullest capabilities.

Flexible Scheduling

The HUB’s Life 101 program offers courses Monday through Friday. Members’ schedules can vary widely depending on employment goals and level of support required. Contact The HUB admissions today and see what works best for your family.

Membership in Life 101 also provides memberships to The HUB’s young adult social program, Club HUB.

Community and Employment Partners

In partnership with community organization and local businesses, The HUB connects our members with service and employment opportunities in the Houston area. Some of our partners are: Rocambolesc, Jessie’s Bites, Blessings in a Backpack, SMITH, Eagle’s Trace, MOD Pizza,. In recent years, over seventeen organizations and business have partnered with Life 101 and The HUB High School to provide internships, community service opportunities and job training.
